Ingredients:
400g plain flour
90g light brown sugar
80g butter, unsalted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
2 teaspoon ginger powder
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
1 egg
Raisins and candies to decorate
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F or 180°C and start to grease and line the baking pans.
Sift the flour, baking soda and spices together in a mixing bowl. Add the sugar, egg and butter. Make sure all the ingredients are well combined.
Only a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 6 to 6.5mm (about 1/4 inch).
Then cut the gingerbread dough into desired shapes using a floured cookie cutter.
Bake for about 8-10 minutes. Since brown sugar is used in gingerbread, the cookie will turn out darker than regular butter cookies made with caster sugar.
Monitor constantly. Once done, remove from oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
