Batang Buruk

Description

Why is this traditional malay cookie called batang buruk (bad tree trunk)?

Its long shape resembles a trunk. The coating of green beans powder adds to the appearance of it looking like something very old.

But it doesn’t taste as bad as it looks. The cookie is made from “popia” skin and that makes it crispy. Sprinkles of icing sugar and powdered milk makes it sweet.
